What We Accept

Please take a moment to review this list before dropping off your donation. Interested in donating an item not on the list? Please email us a photo of the item to ask. 

Items we accept

Kindly check items to ensure they are clean, in good condition, and have all essential parts. Thank you!

  • Small furniture (side tables, coffee tables, etc.)
  • Clothing – men, women, and children (except for baby clothes with drawstrings)
  • Wedding gowns
  • Jewelry and accessories
  • Shoes, boots, purses, bags
  • Coats, hats, gloves, scarves
  • Dishes, glasses, utensils, serving items
  • Kitchenware, pots, pans, etc.
  • Decor, picture frames, mirrors
  • Clean sheets and blankets
  • Artwork and antiques
  • Vintage and collectible items
  • Small appliances (toasters, blenders, mixers, etc.)
  • Books, records, DVDs, CDs
  • Games, toys, and puzzles (with all pieces, please!)
  • Sports equipment (racquets, golf clubs, skis, etc.)

Items we DO NOT accept

  • Vehicles, boats, motorcycles, etc.
  • Bicycle or motorcycle helmets
  • Upholstered furniture (sofas, armchairs, etc.)
  • Large furniture (bed frames, dining room tables, armoires, etc.)
  • Car seats, cribs, walkers, play pens, or high chairs
  • Area rugs
  • Mattresses
  • Large appliances (washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc.)
  • Televisions
  • Computers
  • Printers
  • Medical Supplies
  • Clothing or other items that are dirty, soiled, stained, ripped, missing parts, or that have bugs, pet hair, or odors
  • Recalled or unsafe items
  • Hazardous or flammable items such as paint, gas, or chemicals

Staples – recycle in store and earn Easy Rewards for computers, tablets, printers, phones, fax machines, and many more tech items.

Many items that are either not accepted as donations or are not in suitable condition to be donated can be disposed of at Orange County Solid Waste and Recycling Centers.

Chapel Hill or Carrboro residents can also arrange for pick up of bulky items such as appliances, furniture, or tvs through your town’s solid waste department.
